Connecting to the SimCAB™ via the Ethernet Hardware Application (EHA)

Connecting to the SimCAB™ via the Ethernet Hardware Application (EHA)

First, determine the exact version of the software build being run on the simulation computer

Verify the Mapping Files

  1. Run any scenario that is compatible with the SimCAB™ on the motion base. You need to start the scenario and ensure that any of the SimCAB™ controls respond correctly in the simulation. For example, are you able to start the vehicle or hear the horn when the horn is pressed?
  2. Once you have confirmed that the SimCAB™ controls work in the simulation you can stop and close the simulation.Switch to Vehicle PC. This will be PC2 on the 3 PC system and PC3 on a 6 PC system. Use the
  3. KVM keyboard to switch to the correct PC (ScrLck + ScrLck + NumberOfThePC). E.g If you want to use the KVM to switch to PC2 press the following on the keyboard: ScrLck + ScrLck + 2
  4. Minimise the SBS window. If SBS is in full screen mode, press and hold the Windows button + D on the keyboard to minimise everything.
  5. Open the build folder. The build folder in the following location: C:\5DT. Open the folder that matches the SBS version your system is running.
  6. Open the Log file. Open the bin folder that is located in the build folder you just opened. Now scroll down until you find a file called Log.txt. Double click to open it.
  7. On the keyboard press and hold Ctrl + F to open the search function. Search the following: Mapping file
  8. The find function should take you to the following line: [INFO] IOMAN: Using Interface/Mapping fileC:\5DT\MappingFileLocation
  9. Take note of the mapping files location which is being used in the scenarios

Connect to the SimCAB™

  1. Ensure that there are no simulations running on the system and the SimCAB™ is plugged in.
  2. Open the EHA. Navigate to the build folder. The build folder in the following location: C:\5DT. Open the folder that matches the SBS version your system is running. Open the redist folder and then the EtherentHardwareApp folder. Scroll down to find EthernetHardwareApp.exe and double click on it to open it.
  3. Connect to the SimCAB™. Click the Console button found on the left of the window. If there are not power or communication issues, there should be entry with a SimCAB™ in the list. Double click on the SimCAB™ in the list - See the EHA Console List image below.
  4. Once the EHA app has connected to the SimCAB™, the Connected tab will appear - See the EHA Connected Tab image below.
  5. Load the Mapping File. Click the Load from File button in the Mapping section of the Window. Navigate to the location which contains the mapping file.
