Diagnose Ethernet Steering Issues

Diagnose Ethernet Steering Issues

Load a Scenario for the Relevant Vehicle/Machine

  1. Ensure that the SimCAB™ with the steering issue is on the motion base and is plugged in.
  2. Start the simulator system as per usual.
  3. Once the SBS Application has started on all the PCs, load a relevant scenario.
  4. Start the scenario and then start the vehicle

Check the Ethernet Steering Status in SBS

  1. Once the scenario is running, press and hold Ctrl + Shift + F10 on the keyboard to open the dialog window.
  2. Click on the plus (+) icon next to the World heading to expand the tree - See the Expand the World Tree image below.
  3. Now, find the name of the vehicle in the list. The name may be easily readable or it could be the vehicle code. E.g. Komatsu PC4000 or SM-EX-KOM-PC400. Click on the plus (+) sign next to the vehicle heading to expand the tree - See the Expand the Vehicle Tree image below.
  4. Scroll down to the Ethernet Steering heading and click on it. On most systems the heading should be SubSystems/EthernetSteering or just EthernetSteering - See the Ethernet Steering Properties image below.
  5. Look at the Connected field. If the field value is true, SBS has connected to the electronics and the issue is most likely mechanical. If the value is false, SBS has not connected to the electronics and the steering board may need to be replaced. The issue also might be related to a network issue or a wiring issue.
  6. If the Connected field is true, look at the Position field. Does the value of the position field change significantly when turning the steering wheel right or left? If, not, the gears in the steering gearbox might be damaged and may need to be replaced. Alternatively, the steering column has come loose and is not connected to the steering gearbox anymore and needs to be reseated.
  7. Close the debugging dialog window by either clicking the cross in the top right-hand corner of the window or by clicking the OK or Cancel buttons.
