VR Simulation Performance Drops Suddenly

If the performance of a VR system suddenly drops and the PC starts to respond slowly resulting in a stuttering simulation with low frame rate, check if GPU and VRAM usage in Task Manager.


If the VRAM usage is above 90%, the issue could be that StreamVR video settings are incorrect. Do the following to ensure the video settings are correct:
  1. Open SteamVR settings and go to the Video tab
  2. Click on the Per-Application Video Settings button
  3. Check the Custom Resolution Multiplier for SBS it should be 100%.
  4. If it is anything more than 100%, adjust it so that it is at 100%.
  1. Close SteamVR
  2. Restart the VR PC
